Case Studies
<
Case studies will be posted on canvas. You may work in 2-3 member teams for the case reports;
<
however, all students should be individually prepared to discuss the case in class. Each team will
<
submit one report (MS Word or PDF) and one Excel workbook by the due dates posted in the
<
course schedule. I would expect that a team case report be greater than the sum of the individual
<
student’s contribution.
<
Case Format:
<
1. Introduction (Executive Summary) –Case reports should begin with a brief executive summary
<
of the key issues of the case in no more than a paragraph or two that describes the situation
<
under investigation.
<
2. Problem (Issue) Statement – in a paragraph or two, highlight the main issue(s) that need to be
<
addressed (I offer the posted questions to lead you down this road as I don’t want you to
<
overlook a key component)
<
3. Analysis (data) – this should be the ‘meat’ of your submission that addresses the issue using
<
logic/data/numerical analysis to support your assessment
<
4. Recommendations – this section should flow directly from your analysis where you provide
<
your best solution for the problem at hand given the way you analyzed the situation. Also, you
<
should discuss the potential implications of your decisions as every decision has both
<
positive/negative components.
<
5. Organize your answers in paragraphs and where appropriate, provide in-text citations. Follow
<
APA standards when citing.
<
6. Case study should be typed using Times New Roman, double-spaced with font size of 12 pt
<
and One (1) inch margins. The report should be a minimum of three pages, excluding cover
<
page and references.
<
In order to preserve academic integrity, I will use the Turn-it-In software to check for
<
plagiarism; hence, a similarity index in excess of 20% is not acceptable. This means that you
<
must make every effort to do the work on your own and paraphrase statements that you get
<
from other sources. Any work copied verbatim, either from the internet or from another student
<

<
will be caught using the Turn-it-In Software. For this reason, any work that is found to be
<
plagiarized will receive a failing grade.
<
Please use the spell-check function in Word.
<
Your paper should include the following:
<
• A title page and reference page in APA format (an abstract is not necessary)
<
• Minimum of 4 page double-spaced, excluding the title page and reference page
<
• In-text citations in APA format for the article in review as well as your textbook (and any other
<
sources used, if applicable)
<
• An introduction describing the main idea of your paper and providing a brief summary of the
<
points to be discussed
<
• A conclusion reviewing the main ideas and bringing the paper to a close
